Mr. Paul Gray, the long standing Clerk at Chilton Town Council has this month retired from the post. Paul has been a long serving Clerk to Chilton, undertaking the role for nearly 20 years. Paul has been a stalwart member of staff, working tirelessly promoting and supporting the Chilton community. During his tenure of the Clerk role Chilton has gone from a Parish to a Town Council. All members and colleagues wish him well for a long and happy retirement.
Chilton Citizen Advice Bureau Grant Continues
At the May meeting of Chilton Town Council members agreed to continue their support for CAB and its future. As well as providing facilities for the advice sessions members also reaffirmed their financial support. Cllr. E.Bruce, Mayor of Chilton said ‘Without doubt CAB provides both a vital and important service to the people of Chilton. The advice they give our residents covers all aspects of life and assists the public in every way. Members of the Council are delighted to support CAB and hope this support will continue for years to come and wish CAB well.
Sessions are held every fortnight on a Wednesday morning in Council offices, Hutton House from 10 – 1, no appointment is needed just come along and gain the advice you need.
GALA PRINCESS & ATTENDANT COMPETITION

We are holding our Gala Princess and Attendant competition at 11am during a Family Fun Day at the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground between 10.30 – 2.30pm on Saturday 15th June.

FAMILY FUN DAY, MINERS WELFARE RECREATION GROUND – SATURDAY 15TH JUNE
Chilton Town Council/Trustees of the Miners Welfare with support from Friends of the Park are hosting:
Family Fun Day
Saturday 15th June, 10.30am – 2.30 pm
Miners Welfare Recreation Ground (Chilton Industrial Estate, Chilton – opposite Nisa Petrol Station)
Over the last few years the facility has seen some major improvements, thus he aim of this event is to promote & attract more users to this wonderful facility a legacy from the Miners. On site are 4 tennis courts, small children’s play area and a meeting room in the Pavilion which can be hired. The site is currently open 8am – 8pm. Note: the park isn’t permanently manned.
At the event it is hoped there will be representation from the various users of the park including: St John Ambulance, Chilton and Sedgefield Tennis Club who will hopefully be able to give visitors an insight into their group activities.
For the event we have engaged the services of Sc.ou.ted and Simon Parsons Sports School to offer activities for children. Both companies currently work within local schools in the area.
Sc.ou.ted – Children will be given the opportunity to participate in science workshops.
Simons Carsons Sports School – 2 coaches will be running sessions including: golf, gymnastics and archery
Children will also be able to have their faces painted by Faces Galore and participate in traditional children’s games.
The Gala Committee are also holding their Princess and Attendant competition ahead of the Annual Gala on Saturday 29th June. Any children wishing to take part need to come to the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground by 11am and must be available for the Town Gala.
A lot of hard work, dedication and funding has been invested into this facility and work is still ongoing on ways to improve. Special thanks must be given to everyone involved.

ROOKERY GARDENS, RUSHYFORD – RENEW THE SURFACE WATER SEWER NETWORK

We wanted to make you aware of some work that we are planning in the Rookery Gardens area of Rushyford to renew the surface water sewer network and reduce the risk of flooding at times of heavy rainfall.
Our Project Manager and a member of the Customer Care team from our supply partner, Mott MacDonald Bentley, the company that will be carrying out the work, plan to be in the area this morning delivering letters to customers, informing them of the work and inviting them to an event that we are holding, giving people an opportunity to meet the team and find out more about how this may affect them.
We appreciate that some people may not be able to attend the event, so the letter also includes an offer to arrange one-to-one chats where required.

CHILTON ANNUAL TOWN MEETING
Chilton Town Council would like to invite residents to the Annual Town Meeting on Tuesday 7th May 2019 in Chilton Community Sports & Social Club at 6.00pm.
Reports will be given by the Town Council, local County Councillor Christine Potts, Chilton Green Energy and Police. Other local groups are more than welcome to come along and give a presentation/report to residents.

LIVIN GRASSED AREA – CHILTON
The Town Council have received a large volume of complaints regarding lack of grass cutting which is under the remit of LIVIN. After contacting Livin the Town Council have been advised they have appointed a new contractor called Glendale. Following discussions with them on Monday 29th April they advised the grass will be cut in the next 4 days.

Monday to Friday from 9am – 3pm
MINERS WELFARE RECREATION GROUND SUMMER OPENING HOURS
Owing to British Summer Time the park opening hours are now:
8am – 8pm everyday
The hours will change when British Summer time ends. Revised opening times will be advertised nearer the time.
On site are 4 tennis courts*, pitch and putt*, meeting room* and small children’s play area. There is also the option of playing croquet with Auckland Croquet Club plus Sedgefield and Chilton Tennis Club use the facility. *Fees apply.

CHILTON CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FUNDRAISING
