It is with great sadness that we learnt on Friday 9th April of the passing of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. As a mark of respect, the flag was immediately flown at half-mast. On Sunday 11th April in accordance with the Town Council’s protocol the Mayor and Deputy Mayor laid wreaths at Hutton House on behalf of the community.
We are aware that many people will want to express their condolences. We are following national guidance and would ask the public to be mindful of the national public health advice too. During the current public health situation there will be no physical books of condolence available. Instead, anyone wishing to express their condolences can do so through an online book of condolence available to sign on The Royal Family website at www.royal.uk/condolence
The Royal Family has suggested that members of the public may wish to consider making a donation to a charity of their choice in memory of His Royal Highness, instead of leaving floral tributes. More information is available at www.royal.uk/donations
