The Mayor Councillor Elizabeth Bruce laid a single yellow wreath at 12 noon today on behalf of the Chilton Community and at 12.01pm St Aidans Church bells tolled as a mark of respect to all those who have lost their lives to COVID on this the 1st anniversary of the National Lockdown “Stay at home” directive.
COVID has touched all of our lives in the last year and on this National Day of Reflection we call to mind all the homes and families who have been adversely affected by the pandemic.
Chilton Town Council want to extend their thanks to those who volunteered to decorate Hutton House and our Cemetery in yellow ribbons. Thanks is also owed to St Aidan’s Church for tolling their bell at 12.01pm and to September Flowers who kindly donated all the yellow ribbon.
Tonight at 8.00pm people are encouraged to stand on their doorstep and create a “beacon of light” by shining torches/phones into the night sky.
Anyone wishing to add a message or reflection cab write them on the back of their daffodil poster and post through the Council offices. We will hold them in
quarantine and all the messages will be made into an e-book and published on the Town Council website and this facebook page.
