In honour of Armed Forces Day the flag was raised earlier in the week at Chilton Town Council offices ahead of the celebration on Saturday 29th June. A large crowd gathered, including the Bishops Pipers, Scouts, Cadets & Councillor C. Potts representing the British Legion, onlookers watched as the Mayor, Councillor Elizabeth Bruce led the event & laid a wreath at the war memorial on behalf of all residents.
During the event the Mayor unveiled a Tommy Silhouette which was made possible by funding from Councillor’s C. Potts and donations from L. Dixon and J. Houlihan. Reverend Alison Richardson kindly did a dedication to the Tommy and to past, serving and future armed forces personnel.
The Mayor “Thanked everyone who attended the event to show support to our Armed Forces. Special thanks to Reverend Alison Richardson, the funders of the Tommy Silhouette and local company Sheltee for fixing it into position”
