Fortunately the terrible wet weather we had running up to the Family Fun Day at the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground on Saturday 15th June eased off just in time for the outdoor event.
The event was extremely well attended and everyone seemed to be certainly having lots of fun. With an array of activities on offer there was certainly plenty to keep everyone entertained especially the younger visitors. Visitors enjoyed tennis, face painting, traditional games, archery, golf etc. Friends of the Park were kind enough to serve light refreshments throughout the day. During the event the Gala Princess/Attendant competition was held, all entrants were given a raffle ticket which was drawn at 12 noon. The lucky winner who won the Gala Princess was Evelyn plus 3 attendants were also selected including Emma, Ella-Rose and Deniz.
The Miners Welfare Trustees would like to thanks everyone who assisted at the event & everyone who attended.
The Mayor, Councillor Elizabeth Bruce held a raffle and thanks to the generosity of everyone who donated prizes and bought tickets a total of £103.00 was raised in aid of her chosen charities; Christmas Lights plus local charities and organisation in the Town. All prizes were claimed. Further fundraising will be carried out during the year.
