At the Annual meeting of Chilton Town Council Cllr Elizabeth Bruce was elected as Mayor, her Deputy for the coming year will be Cllr. Julie Cairns.Cllr. E. Bruce’s Consort for the year will be her husband Cllr. Alan Bruce and the Deputy Mayoress will be Cllr. Stephanie Jackson.
Cllr. Bruce has been a longstanding member of the Town Council and active in the Community, being Vice Chairman of Chilton Academy, and on the committees of several organisations in Chilton. Cllr. Cairns was elected to the Council in 2017, and is active across the whole of the Community, especially passionate about the Miners Welfare Charity.
Cllr. Bruce has chosen the Chilton Christmas Lights Appeal and Local Organisations as her Charities for the coming year.
Mayor, Cllr. Bruce says ‘I am delighted and honoured to be once again elected as Mayor of Chiton, a Community I love and adore. Along with Cllr. Cairns we will work as a team for the benefit of the community. May I thank retiring Mayor, Cllr. Michael Young for the sterling work he undertook on behalf of the Community and wish him well for the future. Residents are asked to note the following events:
Family Fun Day – Saturday 15th June at the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground from 10.30am – 2.30pm
Armed Forces Day/Town Gala – Saturday 29th June. 10.30am. The dedicated flag will be raised along with an unveiling of a Tommy silhouette and short service outside the Council offices & then onto Charlie Wayman Playing Fields for Town Gala
South Shields Coach Trip – Saturday 10th August – tickets are now on sale from Council offices
Fireworks Display – Friday 1st November 2019
Remembrance Service – Sunday 10th November 2019
Christmas Lights Switch On – Friday 29th November 2019
Civic Carol Service – Thursday 12th December
