Chilton Town Council/Trustees of the Miners Welfare with support from Friends of the Park are hosting:
Family Fun Day
Saturday 15th June, 10.30am – 2.30 pm
Miners Welfare Recreation Ground (Chilton Industrial Estate, Chilton – opposite Nisa Petrol Station)
Over the last few years the facility has seen some major improvements, thus he aim of this event is to promote & attract more users to this wonderful facility a legacy from the Miners. On site are 4 tennis courts, small children’s play area and a meeting room in the Pavilion which can be hired. The site is currently open 8am – 8pm. Note: the park isn’t permanently manned.
At the event it is hoped there will be representation from the various users of the park including: St John Ambulance, Chilton and Sedgefield Tennis Club who will hopefully be able to give visitors an insight into their group activities.
For the event we have engaged the services of Sc.ou.ted and Simon Parsons Sports School to offer activities for children. Both companies currently work within local schools in the area.
Sc.ou.ted – Children will be given the opportunity to participate in science workshops.
Simons Carsons Sports School – 2 coaches will be running sessions including: golf, gymnastics and archery
Children will also be able to have their faces painted by Faces Galore and participate in traditional children’s games.
The Gala Committee are also holding their Princess and Attendant competition ahead of the Annual Gala on Saturday 29th June. Any children wishing to take part need to come to the Miners Welfare Recreation Ground by 11am and must be available for the Town Gala.
A lot of hard work, dedication and funding has been invested into this facility and work is still ongoing on ways to improve. Special thanks must be given to everyone involved.
