I was born in Chilton in 1936 and have lived in the Town all my life. I was educated at Chilton Boy's School and continued further education at night school. I served in the Army gaining further qualifications.
On leaving school my first job was at Chilton Colliery as an apprentice Blacksmith and remained in the post until 1955. I was then called up to do National Service joining the Army and have seen service in Malaya, Oman and Northern Ireland. I gained the rank of an NCO (None Commissioned Officer). On finishing my National Service I worked in a factory called Bakelite for 23 years having a supervisory position within the company. I joined Sedgefield Borough Council and worked in the training section which I thoroughly enjoyed gaining many qualifications including a Diploma in Safety Management, Method and Work Study Certificate and a Counselling Diploma.
I am married to Elsie and we have 2 sons, 1 daughter and seven grandchildren all of whom live in Chilton.
Over the years I have always been involved in the local community and have served on the management board of Chilton Workingmen's Club, held a Governor's position and been past Treasurer of Chilton Community College and at present am the President/Treasurer of Chilton Catholic Social Club.
Hobbies: Gardening, DIY, local history and sport.
"I think Chilton is a good place to live and the majority of people take pride in the local area unfortunately there are still a mindless few who litter and vandalise public facilities. We as Councillors must continue to help change people's idea's to stop anti-social behaviour. I am always on hand to achieve this goal and all anyone has to do is give me a call."
