I have lived In Chilton for almost 40 years after being married to Christine Elliott in 1968, after serving in Her Majesties Armed Forces. We have a daughter and grandson who live in Reading.
My work has taken me all over the world, to places I would not have, under normal circumstances, visited; mainly to teach Radiological Safety and Protection. I am also a Senior Observer (instructor) for the Institute of Advanced Motorists for training motorcyclists to pass the IAM examination.
For more than 30 years it has been my pleasure to serve the people of Chilton as a Parish and Town Councillor, being Chairman of the Council on numerous occasions and having the honour to serve as Mayor for one year. I have served on the Association of local Councils and on the Police Consultative Committee, also as a representative to the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Hobbies: I used to be a member of Chilton Tennis Club and there is a feeling that we should start another tennis club in Chilton. There are new tennis courts, with lighting that are waiting to be used, so come on, let’s do it!
I have seen many changes in the 30 years that I have been representing Chilton, most of which have been lead by the local Council with the help and invaluable support of local groups. We still have much to do to ensure the continual improvement of our area and any thing, which will lead to those improvements, will have my full support.
