Council Responsibilities
Chilton Parish Council was formed in 1900. The council changed its name in 2004 to Chilton Town Council. It is the bottom tier of Local Government in this Country.
The second tier, being Durham County Council.
The Police, Fire and Ambulance services have their own administrations and at the moment are either County or regionally based. These lists are by no means extensive and are intended to give an indication of the responsibilities of each individual Council.
