Council Responsibilities

Chilton Parish Council was formed in 1900. The council changed its name in 2004 to Chilton Town Council. It is the first tier of Local Government.

The Town Council responsibilities are;

Allotments, Bus shelters, litter bins, play areas, football fields and Cemetery

The second tier of local government being Durham County Council.

The County Council responsibilities are;

The Police, Fire and Ambulance services have their own administrations and at the moment are either County or regionally based. These lists are by no means extensive and are intended to give an indication of the responsibilities of each individual Council.
