The Gala Day Committee meet for the first time 15th October 2008. The volunteers discussed the role of the committee and appointed Mr Dave Allenson to chair to group. The Town Council have set the date for next years Gala Day and will include a horticulture show and possible dinner dance.
CHILTON GALA DAY 19th JULY 2008
Chilton Town Council are pleased to advise that preparations are well underway for the forthcoming Gala Day. At 11.00am the Pipes and Drum of the Northern World War II will lead a parade from Hutton House to Chilton Primary School on to the field were the Gala Day will commence. The Gala will be a fun packed and exciting day and promises to be a great day out for all the family thanks to a £4,900 grant from Awards for all plus £300 from Sedgefield Borough Council.
Admission is free. If the day is a success the Town Council may take the decision to hold the Gala Day annually. The Council are aiming to attract a wide age group with various activities, attractions, exhibitions and stalls throughout the day, including; a Falconry Display, Fire Brigade, Police, TA, Yesterdays Heroes, Bravura Arts, Steel Pans to name but a few.
To entertain the children there will be various entertainment including Scribbly Artz, face painting plus a bouncy castle, fun fair rides and hopefully thanks to the TA there will be a climbing wall and paintball range. In the centre of the field will be an arena where throughout the day local groups will be performing. These include local dancers, martial arts and linked to the school will be the Aycliffe and Chilton Steel pans.
Many of our local youngsters will be performing in the arena. For all you console masters there will be a competition running from 11.00am – 16.00pm. Staff will be on hand from Sedgefield Borough Council to assist.

- 2nd category (12 years +) you could win a Nintendo Wii and Mario + Sonic Olympic game. (download application form)
If you are interested please complete an entry form, available from Hutton House and Chilton Primary School field and leave in the box. Entry is £1.00 per individual and entitles the player to 2 minutes game play. (Games to be advised on the day). At 16.30pm the player with the highest overall score in each category will be awarded the appropriate console. Note: you can enter on the day.
Throughout the day there will be a variety of stalls that residents can simply browse around or purchase gifts. If you would be interested in holding a stall you can do so for £5.00 each per table. However, you would need to bring your own table. These can be booked by contacting the office on 01388 721788.
