Chilton Remembrance

Over the last weekend there were two events. Firstly on Saturday 11th November the flag was raised as the Mayor, Councillor Tonya Duprey read a short dedication to remember our fallen heroes followed by a two minutes silence.

On Sunday 12th November a large congregation attended St Aidan’s Church for the annual remembrance service which was led by Reverend Keith Lumsdon. This was followed by a procession down to the War Memorial led by Bishops Pipers and Deputy Lord Lieutenant Peter Cook representing the Queen.

Despite the bitterly cold weather a huge crowd gathered for the service and observed a two minutes silence to show their respects. Simon Howe kindly played the Last Post and Reville. There were many wreaths & crosses laid from various groups/organisations & individuals including Deputy Lord Lieutenant Peter Cook.

The Town Council would like to thank St Aidan’s Church, Mike Morrison, Bishops Pipers & Simon Howe along with all other people involved in the event & everyone who turned out to show their respects.
